The 24-year-old could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail Troubled star Chris Brown is to face trial for assault after his lawyers failed to get charges against him dropped.
He was put in custody of US Marshals last Wednesday while being transported from a Los Angeles jail where he was being held across the country to Washington D.C. for his misdemeanour assault trial.
The singer was reportedly chained at his ankles, wrists and arms for much of the time he was in custody.
Brown, 24, will be devastated after a judge dismissed the defences attempt to get the charges against him – and his bodyguard – dropped.
A police report details a man suffered a fractured nose and head injuries following an alleged altercation outside a Washington hotel in October.

He was arrested for violating his probation in rehab Brown has been in jail since March 14 and is accused of striking the man who was attempting to take his photograph.
His recent downfall was caused after he violated his probation while in a rehab facility for breaking three internal rules.
It caused his immediate ejection from the treatment centre and he was arrested soon after.
The initial probation is related to the case in 2009 when he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna.
If found guilty, Brown could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail as well as a fine of up to £600
