Former West African Idol contestant and ‘Botom Belle’ crooner,
Omawumi Megbele better known by her stage name as ‘Omawumi, has blamed
the loss of live performance due to the advent of musical software.
The
artiste stated that though it cost a lot to do a live performance, but
feels it is the ideal way of convincing your audience that you are
original and you what you are doing.
According to her, “A regular
album is mainly produced in a studio. If you understand the mechanics
of working in a studio, you’ll know that most of the sounds you hear are
softwares already installed on a computer and producers can use these
computer-generated sounds to make music.”
But what I am trying
to do with a live album is trying to tow the line of people like Femi
Kuti, Asha, Angeli Kidjoe, Yosou Ndour who make live albums. When you
hear the sounds, you know they are real music instruments, though it
costs a lot of money, but its real music and it’s worth it.
