Kwankwaso Leads State Officials To Sweep Off Jonathan, PDP’s Footprints

GOVERNOR RABI’U MUSA KWANKWASO & STATE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SWEEPING THE VENUE USED FOR THE PDP RALLY IN KANO

The political rivalry between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso on Tuesday took a new dimension when the governor led state officials including his deputy, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, to sweep off the president’s footprints in what seems like a strong message that Mr. Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are not wanted in the country’s most populous state.

President Jonathan had led a delegation of government and party officials to Kano, about 24 hours after a deadly bomb blast in Abuja and the reported abduction of over 100 school girls in Borno State, to officially receive Malam Ibrahim Shekarau to the PDP fold.
But shortly after the party rally, the governor and his team jeered at the president as they swept the venue used for the PDP rally with brooms.
The broom is the main symbol of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to which Mr. Kwankwaso belongs.
The governor’s action also symbolizes a cultural and political message meant to emphasize his disdain for the president and the PDP.
The presidency is yet to react to Kwankwaso’s latest effrontery against Mr. Jonathan.
